About Us

In the early 1920's Nels Rasmussen purchased a farm in Corinne.  As years went by and cattle were purchased, he registered the NR brand with the state of Utah. Horses were always an important part of his farming and ranching business.  Nels's youngest son Phil worked with him on the Corinne farm and began running the business in the 60's.

In the 70's Phil purchased two AQHA mares, Laddie May, and Hawks Nicole Wicks.  Lanes Super Cutter, a palomino stallion by Lanes Super Son, was purchased as a colt in 1983.

Dennis began showing in the Reined Cowhorse in 1986, and showed Lanes Super Cutter at two shows, winning "Reserve Champion" at both shows.  Lanes Super Cutter then began his stallion career and has produced many very nice colts.  Today many of the broodmares in the business are daughters and granddaughters of Lanes Super Cutter.

In 1994 Smart Crocker Olena, by Smart Chic Olena was leased from Mike Buchanan.  He was shown and won championships in the Snafflebit and Hackamore classes.  He sired some excellent colts including our bay roan stallion, Dry Smart Crocker.  Dry Smart Crocker placed at the NRCHA Snafflebit Futurity, and won several Non Pro Championships.  Another of Smart Crocker Olena's colts is Smart Dos Peppylena, a bay stallion.  He was also a Non Pro Champion, was sold last year at our sale.

Chick N San, by Peppy San Badger, was purchased in 1996 through Doug Milholland.  In 1997 Dennis showed him in the URCHA and won the Yearend Open Bridle Championship.  Chick N San went on to win many champion and Reserve Championships in Stockhorse events.  He also became a great sire producing Reined Cowhorse Futurity and Derby Champions.  Several of his daughters are in our broodmare band today.  He died in 2007.

Our horse business also included a 1998 stallion, Lenas Main Banker, by Lenas Main Event.  He was shown by Casey as a three year old and won the URCHA SBF Novice-Non Pro Championship.  He died in 2008.

In 2007, Shiners War Leo, by Shining Spark, was purchased from Adams Performance Horses.  He was shown in Reined Cowhorse events through out the intermountain area.  He won several Open Champion and Reserve Championships.  He has proven to be an excellent producer of performance horses.

In 2007, our business was featured on American Rancher, Phil was quoted as saying,

"I love good horses, not just horses but good horses.  That's what we've tried to breed for, one that understands cows and likes to work with cows.  I don't want one that is going to run through the field or down the road.  I want something that's gunna be like a good cow dog, they're gunna watch what they're doin and do what they are supposed to do."

Phil passed away in December of 2008.  Today Dennis, Casey and other family members continue to operate the farming business as well as the Quarter Horse operation, which includes our annual production sale.  Dennis and Casey also continue to train and show horses in the Reined Cowhorse events throughout the Intermountain area.
